Elmo and Abby’s Butterfly Friend Light-Up Library Review

We were super excited that The Glo Companies reached out to us to review their new collaboration of Sesame Workshop and the Light-Up Library with Elmo and Abby’s Butterfly Friend. These three Sesame titles are powered by the Magic Magnifier technology that makes them an interactive experience as you hover the magnifier over parts of the book to allow lights hidden in the pages to glow. The Light-Up Library books really are well done, with quality construction and they should hold up for many years. We love that you can’t see the lights so they are a great surprise when you hover over them. The magnifier is easy to hold and it is well done as you have the hold the button to turn it on and off, that means that little ones will not turn it off by mistake while they are exploring the book.

The story of Elmo and Abby’s Butterfly Friend has Elmo and Abby Cadabby meeting a caterpillar and when they can’t find him again, they ask Grandma Nell about what happens to a caterpillar when they go into their chrysalis. This interactive story was written by Sesame Workshop’s own Meg Seyler, an Editor on the Licensed Publishing & Brand Marketing team. We really enjoyed the story and found the lights really made it an exciting adventure. There are two more books in the Sesame collection with Elmo in Outer Space and Abby’s Garden Sounds as well as other series over at glopals.com

This also makes a great gift that has that excitement factor when it is opened, with a great price point as well. We would also suggest looking at it as a holiday gift this year as well, for all those Sesame Street fans and parents. Make sure to have a set of AAA batteries and a small Philips head screwdriver to power up that Magic Magnifier. This will be included on our upcoming Holiday Gift Guide for 2026 and The Sesame Workshop Light-Up Library collection and other Light-Up Library books are recommended for ages 18M+.
