WubbaNub Animated Shorts

WubbaNub

We remember WubbaNub fondly as we were introduced to them in the first year they were produced with our children, it was a visionary idea and we found it to be one of the best products invented for children. This pacifier stuffed animal combination has sold millions and is a must have for any new parents. To allow the baby to grow with their favorite characters they have seen as WubbaNubs, the company has introduced a set of animated shorts.

You can watch them below and let us know what you think about a pacifier company getting into the animated space with their owner and Nickelodeon producer.

WubbaNub, a leader in the baby industry and pacifier space, is launching its first set of animated short videos, under the direction of founder Carla Schneider and award-winning Creative Director and seasoned Nickelodeon producer, Scott Webb.

Created by visionary Carla Schneider over 18 years ago, WubbaNub came to life during vacation with her infant son. When his pacifier would not stay in his mouth, Schneider grabbed her hotel sewing kit, fastened his favorite stuffed animal to the end and he was instantly comforted. Today, Schneider has sold millions of the patented WubbaNubs and has received praise and acclaim from parents and hospitals around the country who have found the collection to be unlike any other pacifier on the market – easy to grasp, completely safe and immediately soothing. Based on store requests, WubbaNub has just begun its foray into new character-themed products with blankets and soon-to-launch play mats. “Moms continuously approach me asking me what’s next and sharing their ideas,” says Schneider. “WubbaNub is so much more than a pacifier, it is a baby’s first love!”
Schneider assembled an award-winning creative team to develop the playful animated shorts, led by Scott Webb, founder of boutique creative agency, Static-Free Media. Together Webb and Schneider created story lines based off of five of the WubbaNub classic characters – Puppy, Frog, Monkey, Duck, and Lamb – bringing them to life and offering families a look into their unique personalities. The inspiration for these videos was the brand’s “Baby’s First Friend” positioning. Webb wanted to bring the characters to life and stay true to a baby’s point of view – close-up, textured and fun.
The shorts were created to evoke a true sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of the kind of animation Schneider loved growing up. Webb combines photography, live-action footage, AfferEffcts and CGI 3D techniques to create the feeling that each plush toy has truly come to life. Webb says, “The whole world of Wub characters is so rich and fun with so much potential for creativity – it was hard to pick which to animate first. Puppy was the obvious mascot because he really is a best friend. We chose Frog to inspire joy of movement, Monkey for his curiosity, Duck for his love of water play and Lamb for cuddle time. With these five we have the perfect cast for WubbaNub stories and games.”
With sound effects by actor and voice composer Fred Newman, each video is designed as a “snack,” short and easily consumable – perfect for today’s mobile web platforms. “It is not very often we come across brands that possess the emotive stickiness with both moms and babes that can organically flow from origin product to so much more – WubbaNub is one of those rare brands,” says Webb.
Schneider is inspired by the next phase of the business and her innovative team. “My vision for the brand is to grow up with the baby, to still be part of the family through their other childhood stages and milestones. I want to keep the love going and evolving from a baby’s first friend to their sidekick as they grow. This is the next step in building a truly multi-faceted baby brand that is warm, approachable and uniquely special.”
