Disney Jr. Sofia the First Enchancia Castle Playset Review

When we first stumbled on to the Disney Jr. Sofia the First Enchancia Castle Playset over at Walmart’s site, we had this feeling it was going to be a hit and make our holiday list. If you have been searching for a toy that keeps the kids entertained without elctronics, screens or buttons, then this playset may be it for the Sofia fans. The playset which is inspired by the animated series Sofia the First: Royal Magic, delivers a two-level miniature palace that packs a lot of creative play into a small footprint. Sitting at just over ten inches tall, the castle will not take up half of your living room floor and it can easily be packed away or moved.

Right out of the box (or for us zero packaging as it was in a bag) you can start your playtime, you get a fully built castle alongside a 12-piece accessory set. The kids can start playing with the included Sofia figure and her flying horse, Wildfyre, whose wings can actually pop off so be careful. Furnishing the royal space is super straightforward thanks to the included accessories like the bed, dining table, two chairs, a trough with hay, and a vanity. Kids can set up a fun tea party using the tiny teapot, or get Sofia ready for the day with her hairbrush and purse. Because there are no batteries involved, the adventures of Sofia and Wildfyre rely entirely on their own imagination.

What really pushes this playset for inclusion on our holiday season list is the stow-and-go design that gives it portability as well as the pricing. The outer walls fold completely shut, turning the entire toy into a travel case that is equipped with a built in carrying handle. It has quickly become a go to toy for car rides over to Grandma’s house, but you have to watch out for the little pieces. The only issues is that some pieces only fit in some locations, but this is not a big deal. Packing it up is super easy with every character, accessories, and piece of furniture getting locked up for travel. Even with those tiny flaws, the durability and portability win out here, as well as the great Sofia look and design making it a total win for royal adventures. This is a Walmart exclusive so make sure to dial in early if you are looking to purchase it.
